Unfortunately there is no clear cut answer to the question of who are the best website hosting companies? The question is just not easy to solve because there is no perfect web hosting company. Some have excellent customer service with strong servers and excellent features, but they may be quite costly. There are some hosting companies that are dirt cheap, but then again you are probably getting what you pay for.
In order to make an educated decision on choosing web hosting, try to implement all the factors involved.
One important feature when shopping around is that they have cPanel. Although it may not be critical if you already have a script or have a pre-made website that you have made because you can just upload the information onto your server. However, if you are new to website building, cPanel can be an incredible tool. For starters, it has the great section called Fantastico. In Fantanstico, there are scripts which can be uploaded to your domain that will give you the perfect template to build a website.
Fantastico has WordPress, which in of itself makes it more than worthwhile. WordPress originally started as a blog building software, but it has grown to be much more than that. People have been using WordPress now to build full-blown ecommerce sites as well infromational websites, just like you could with Frontpage or Dreamweaver. One big difference is that WordPress is free and has a WYSIWYG (What You See is What You Get) editor, meaning there is no need for extensive knowledge on HTML editing to edit your web pages. You can simply edit them just like you would a word processor. To many people, WordPress has become one of the best pieces of software for webmasters that has ever come out.
cPanel also has different scripts for forums. Just load the script and you’ve got a forum. Simple as that. The hard part is just coming up with a niche. It also has autoresponders for those who want to try out email marketing. All you have to do is build a mailing list.
If this is something that sounds important to you make sure that the hosting company offers it for free. There are still some companies, where you have to pay extra every month for these features. Its not critical if you are already sure of what kind websites you’re going to build and what software is needed. But if you’re not sure, these are great tools that you can play around with and see what you can come up with.
Another important feature to look at when choosing a hosting company is the companies reputation when it comes to customer service. To put it bluntly, its not a case of if but when you have to call them to fix a problem. I don’t care how good the company is, eventually you do run into a problem or simply have some questions, Sometimes its the webmaster’s fault and he might need to restore his websites due to his own error. But when you do make the call, you want to know that you’re not going to be waiting on the phone for 2 hours before you get a hold of a real person. Or when you do, you want to know they can help you. Some companies just simply don’t train their employees well and you’ll know it the moment they pick up the telephone.
