A Powerful Open Source Content Management System – Drupal

Drupal has a powerful open source content management system that allows you to classify and tag content. Drupal category can be limited to certain content types. For example, you could have blog contents that allowed free tagging (similar to WordPress categories), while your news section might have a different vocabulary (set of categories) that could only be selected from an existing list of categories. You can also have hierarchical categories, with single or multiple parent categories. Drupal’s advanced taxonomy features, allow you to easily target all of those long-tail keywords that you researched in Wordtracker.

You can views Modules to create new content types and create advanced custom views for them without writing any code. A few examples of “content types” are “blog posts”, “news stories”, “forum posts”, “tutorials”, “classified ads”, “podcasts”. You can create as many custom content types as you would like and display them in many different ways. Most content management systems would require writing code to accomplish these tasks, but there is no programming knowledge required to do them in Drupal.

Drupal was designed for community-based Web sites and has strong user role and access manage functionality. You can create as many custom user roles with custom access levels as you require. For example you could create the following roles, each with different levels of access to your features: “anonymous visitor”, “genuine user”, “editor”, “webmaster”, “admin”. You can keep the advanced user management features (like multiple blogs) turned off if you don’t want them, enabling them later if your site grows to a point where you would like to add more community features.

Large and Friendly Community – With so many major sites using Drupal, it’s not going away soon. For an idea of the size of the developer community, take a look at the long list of community-contributed modules.

There are other open-source alternatives to Drupal Customization []:

*Joomla Customization – Joomla is not as search engine friendly out of the box as Drupal.

*WordPress Customization – WordPress is outstanding, but if you require something more strongly or are building a site that you might want to extend in the prospect you should be considering Drupal.

How to Earn Extra Money on the Internet With Blogging?

Blogs have become extremely popular over the years and allow marketers to get their thoughts out quickly and easily using very affordable blogging software and plugins that are widely available. If done correctly, you can get the attention of all the major search engines and have your pages indexed extremely fast. After you’ve added a good amount of quality articles, you can then start implementing ways of monetizing your blog for some extra money. Once your readers grow to a point where the blog is self-sustaining, you can really explode onto the Internet with a site that truly helps people and, in turn, earns you an amazing return in advertising dollars.

Which Blogging Software do I use?

I recommend using WordPress Blogs. You can sign up for a free account at or use the method I prefer, which is installing the WordPress script itself on your own web server hosting plan. The software is easy to use and comes with an installation program that guides you through the process. The other very cool feature of WordPress Blogs is the fact that you can use add-on plugins that extend the capabilities of your site. Go to to search for them.

What Should I Write About?

That’s the fun part – you can write about anything! Choose a hobby or something you’re an expert on or have a passion for. My biggest tip for your success is just that; make sure you write about something you actually enjoy and NEVER create a blog for the sole reason of making money online. If you start a site just to earn extra money, you’ll most likely fail because you’ll be more concerned with income generation than writing good quality content that actually helps someone or provides entertainment. Pick a topic you love and could imagine writing about everyday.

How Often Should I Write Posts?

This depends on how motivated you are to succeed, but the most important thing is to be consistent. Consistency will make or break your blog success. This is so important because search engines like Google and Yahoo love continually updated web pages and especially blogs. If you can write a great article every single day, then do it and never look back. As I’ve said, even if you do every other day or every few days, make sure you’re consistent and never stop…keep going and going and pump out that content.

How do I Advertise my Blog?

There are literally tons of ways to get your blog out there and known by the public, so here’s a list of some of the more effective ways:

  • Talk to other bloggers that write about the same topics as you and form a link exchange or relationship with them. Become friends first, then and only then ask for a link or the chance at being a guest author on their blog.
  • Use SEO (Search Engine Optimization) tools and techniques to get a much higher ranking in the search engines.
  • Leave comments on other similar blogs with your name and web site link to receive lots of incoming links, which will help grow your audience.
  • Submit articles to Article Directories like this one to get the word out with a link back to your Blog.
  • Write quality content that engages your audience and give them a reason to subscribe to you and keep coming back for more.

Once you’ve been around for several months and have compiled a nice list of quality articles with a fair amount of traffic coming in, you can start to think about implementing various ways of monetizing your blog. The most common are adding banners or small ads in the sidebar area of your site that advertisers pay for per click or on a monthly basis. Additionally, you can have in-line text ads that will underline certain key phrases that, when clicked on, will open a small ad for a sponsors site. After awhile, you can even write review on your Blog for affiliate programs or products and get paid a good amount of money every time.

Really, the possibilities are endless when you want to Earn Extra Money on the Internet with Blogging. You just need to be disciplined and consistent with your articles, never stop getting the word out about them, and add lots of value for your readers. If you can do these things over and over again, you’ll ensure a great Blog that will make you a wealth of money and success!

It’s Not Too Late To Get In On Making Money Online

Believe it or not, there are still many ways to make a great part-time income. There’s affiliate marketing, creating E-books, creating an online store, selling items on Ebay, Adsense, Pay Per Click, Blogging and quite a few others not mentioned here. The easiest and cheapest way to get your feet wet is to start a blog, get traffic to that blog and then monetize your blog. To start you need a blog, You can get a blog free from sites like:

Blogsome – a WordPress based blog site with plenty of themes, although some of them seem old and plain looking.

Smoothlaunch – this blog site is geared towards afiliiate marketers. plenty of plug-ins such as mp3 players, social bookmarking plug-ins.

WordPress – One of the better blog sites on the net. WordPress loads very fast and has tons of plug-ins available. You can host your blog on their site or point an existing domain to

Blogger – A great blog site that is probably one of the easiest to get up and running. Your reading from one.

Next you need to get some traffic to your web blog. I used a great eBook that I just purchased called Easy Blog Traffic. With this package I received Blog Traffic Videos and Ebooks that showed me how to get other blogs to link to me, how to get visitors by adding tools to my blog and most importantly how to get people to subscribe to my blog. With this information my blog went from 5 views a day to over 100 a day in 2 days, and the numbers keep going up. The videos were especially helpful as I really like having the different methods used in getting more visitors to my blog showed to me in clear concise easy to understand steps. The Ebooks are chock full of really great and thoughtful ideas and methods on getting traffic to your blog. One of the Ebooks “Blog Profit Machine for beginners” had some great insider tips like, How to create your own unique blogging personality and stand out from the thousands of other bloggers and how to make search engines love your blogs using on-page search engine optimization. The secret to making money with a blog is to get people to read your blog and to do that you need traffic, and lots of it. Easy Blog Traffic was so helpful and insightful that I purchased the rights to resell it.

Last but definitely not least, you need to monetize your blog. There are many ways you can make money with your blog, but you do not want to overdo it. You can use Adsense, eBay Auctions, Pay Per Click advertising, place ads on your blog and even sell your blog posts. Which will work for you depends solely on you and your readers and the type of blog you are writing. AdSense ads do very well, but really do not make you much money unless you have thousands of new readers checking your blog out on a daily basis. eBay auction items can be lucrative if you are writing about material things like maybe Televisions, Home Theatre or maybe a blog about video games. If books are your forte and you like to read and recommend books to your readers maybe an affiliate link to can work for you. Any way you get the idea, there are many ways to make money with your blog you just need to find what works for you and your readers. Easy Blog Traffic helped me build a great blog, bring readers to this blog and showed me how to make money from my blog, and I think it will work for you too.

WordPress Magic

Ever since WordPress was launched in 2003, it has since grown to become one the most popular blogging and web hosting platforms on the internet. This is mainly because it uses CMS platforms, which is a better content management software than other options available in the market such as Joomla. Below are some reasons why most people prefer using this particular program.

No FTP Software or HTML Editing is required

Unlike Joomla, WordPress is a self-sufficient program that doesn’t require HTML editing software such as Dreamweaver or Adobe Contribute. You can perform various functions such as posting new pages, text formatting and uploading new images without having to use an additional FTP or HTML software.

Simple BOT code

The identification code used by WordPress is clean and very straightforward, making it simpler for search engines such as Google to read and index site content. The same cannot be said of Joomla. In addition, with CMS platforms each post, page and image can be tagged to a unique meta keyword, title or description and optimized so as to meet specific keywords. This allows for more specific search engine optimization by the user for even better traffic generation.

Built-in blog

The system comes fitted with an in-built blogging platform that’s easy to integrate. It permits for easy setup of RSS/email subscriptions to the blog, commenting functions, and automatic addition of recent blog posts to secondary pages on the site. They are also simple to put-up and can help in expanding your brand’s outreach, making the site more dynamic and interactive than those of competitors.

Customizable web design

The web design of WordPress is 100% customizable, meaning that the site actually acts as the main engine to your website. Its overall look and feel can be remodeled so as to give visitors a much better experience. This way there would be no more need to wait for a web-designer to make simple adjustments or updates to the site. You’ll have total control of each aspect on your site and be able to make necessary updates on your own.

User friendliness

WordPress is relatively easy to use compared to Joomla and has an interactive interface. Placing new pages, images and blog posts on a regular basis is easier and can be done much faster. Since the technology used is simple, time spent in formatting webpages is also greatly reduced. Similarly, WordPress is browser-based meaning that users can login from any web-connected computer to manage their site.

Start a Successful Fitness Blog for Fun and Profit

Over six years ago, I started a fitness blog as a motivational tool for myself to keep up with health and fitness. I figured if I kept an online journal of all of the things I was learning about fitness, it would keep me motivated enough to work out and eat right on a regular basis. I would write blog posts almost every day. Over time, I noticed that I was beginning to receive several visitors. People were even starting to link to my articles and leave comments as well. Soon, I began feeling good about writing and enjoyed the feedback I was receiving.

Fast forward to today and now that blog I started so many years ago now provides me with somewhat passive income. I say somewhat because I have to maintain the web site so it isn’t 100% hands-off. However, I still enjoy writing articles for it.

Some of the perks I receive from running a fitness blog are free products to review as well as income from the advertisements I run. I have received cool fitness products from books to a free pair of walking shoes. I receive emails on a regular basis for product reviews.

The first step to running a successful fitness blog is to purchase your own domain name and web hosting. I would avoid starting off on a free blogging service simply because you don’t have as much control as hosting it yourself. You can run any type of advertisements you like when you control your own blog. You can purchase a domain name from any reputable domain registrar. I highly recommend keeping your domain name relevant to the topic and get it in a “.com” if it’s available. You can find good and affordable web hosting plans all over the internet.

Once your domain and web hosting, I also recommend installing WordPress as your blogging platform. It is very simple to install and most web hosting companies offer one-click WordPress installation for the non-tech savvy individuals. WordPress is easy to use and is search engine friendly right out of the box.

Finally, you want to write in plenty of good content. When starting out, I suggest writing on a regular basis – once a day if possible – but a few times a week at the minimum. In order to start marketing your blog, leave comments on other fitness blogs you visit, create a Twitter account and a Facebook page as well.

Good content will be the key to achieving repeat visitors as well as having other bloggers link to your web site. Stay consistent with your posts and about after 6 months time, you should have a steady stream of web traffic and that is where the passive income comes in. Experiment with various monetization options such as PPC ads, affiliate ads, and banner advertisements to learn what pulls in the best income.

Top 5 Benefits of Using WordPress For Your Website

If you have never built a website before, one of the quickest and easiest ways to get your first domain live and operational in only minutes is to install WordPress on your website.

WordPress is a blogging platform that allows you to have a pre-built website for free that will allow you to focus on the more important items like content, and if you desire it, sales and profits.

WordPress Benefits

In more than a decade online, I have literally built dozens of websites, many from the ground up… But since I discovered the ease of use and powerful flexibility of the WordPress platform, I am building most of my newest websites under this Content Management System (CMS).

The reasons I prefer the WordPress blogging platform are many, but I will sum it up with the following five key benefits:

1. Quick and Easy Installation – If you have a web hosting company that runs cPanelX as your webmasters’ control panel (many of the more popular web hosting companies do), then you will find an option in your control panel called, “Fantastico De Luxe”. When you click on the Fantastico icon, you will be taken to a page where you can add a multitude of free applications to your website, by following some simple instructions. Just click on the WordPress link to install WordPress on your website. The software will ask you some basic general information, then do the full install of one of the most recent WordPress builds into your website.

2. Website Themes – Few webmasters want to use the generic WordPress Theme that ships with WordPress. The default WP Theme is plain Jane, and to my taste, perfectly drab. There are many people who design custom WordPress Themes that you can easily upload to your domain, to change the appearance and feel of your WordPress website. Some of the WP Themes are paid versions, but most of them are free. There are more than one thousand themes loaded directly into the WordPress website ( ), from which you can choose, although you are not limited to just the themes loaded into the WordPress website.

3. Website Functionality – Just like with the WordPress Themes, if there is a specific functionality you want your blog to perform, there are programmers out there who have made WordPress Plugins that will do for you those things you would like to do. There are nearly 8,000 WordPress Plugins on the website ( ), and thousands more that are not in the WordPress database. If you find a Plugin you want, just download, unzip, and upload it to the appropriate Plugin directory on your blog. After you have uploaded the Plugin, simply go to the Admin area of your Blog to activate the software.

4. Open Source – WordPress has been built in PHP, and its source code is visible to everyone who wants to look at it. On top of that, WordPress has included comprehensive documentation and a range of functions to help programmers work within the WordPress Codex. Anyone with a minimal knowledge of PHP can program WordPress Themes and Plugins, without too much effort.

5. Self-Updating – In recent versions, WordPress has included a feature that will notify you if upgrades are available for the basic WordPress operating system or your chosen WP Plugins. When upgrades become available, you will be notified, and often you only need to click a link to automatically install the upgrades and updates.

I have a friend who is a PHP coder by trade. I try not to mention WordPress in his presence, because every time I do so, I get an ear-full of “WordPress Sucks…”

To be honest with you, I still like WordPress… I like it, because it is easy to install and maintain, and I can improve it easily by using templates and plugins.

I am a coder, but life is too short to spend all of my time coding new websites… I am happy to spend my time creating content that will lead to sales… So for me, WordPress is good, and I am happy to put it on as many websites as I need to do…

If you are new to the Internet, then you might agree that WordPress is a blessing to those of us, who have more important things to do than to recreate the wheel…

How To Identify Fake Web Designers — And Choose A Real One

Like going on a blind date, choosing the right web designer can be an adventure fraught with false hope.

Unlike a big corporation, a small business generally has a tight budget–especially when it comes to advertising and promotion–to engage a big web design agency to serve their online marketing needs.

With the understanding that a cheap-looking website is not the best way to represent your business–or that you do not have unlimited funds to throw at web designers on the off-chance that you’ll get something that resembles what you want–there exist good small design studios and professional freelance web designers with reasonable rates, fortunately.

Here are some tips on how to choose the right one to meet your small business needs.

Identify the Fake Web Designers

Check out their portfolio!

Do they look professional? Is the style of the designer something you would like to have on your own site? Are they logical, easy to use, and provide what’s needed to help customers achieve their (and the clients’) goals? That means that a lot of business development has gone into them.

Web Designers vs Web Programmers

There are many web designers who are actually programmers who know little, if at all, about design. They use templates that are created by other professional designers. Unfortunately, templates aren’t customized to your unique business.

Moreover, with advances in software applications, it is easier than ever to create and build a website. These software can help anyone build a website without knowing a thing. However, there is a distinct difference between creating and designing one.

Design, be it web or print, is about communication. Without the necessary design knowledge how could the programmers do an effective job communicating with your prospective customers?

How Can Good Design Help Your Business

Design is about you–what you know, what you see, and what you have to say. Behind every design is a vision, a purpose, a reason to be. Web design is not about decoration but communication; about making your words and vision visible, giving it form and body for all the world to see.

While the sales copy of your website remains vital for the effective selling of your products or services, the use of typography, color, graphics and layout help lead your prospects read and navigate your website.

This makes your page a pleasure to read and increases their overall user-experience.

A professional, well-designed website has been proven to increase sales!

Web Design Process

The web design process is also a matter of planning, what to include and what to exclude, good design, appealing text, how to sell, what business plan to follow, and more.

Like any other marketing medium, it requires a lot of work by individuals who understand what visitors and the search engines like to see: properly organized text. Combining a nice layout with SEO isn’t easy, make sure the designer understands both the human and search components.

The result is pages that perform well for visitors and rank high for specific keywords.

No doubt, there are many who can turn out professional websites, but few who will volunteer to spend dozens of hours consulting with a client, designing a clear and unconfusing website, and sweating over ad copy, pictures and all the major and minor details — in essence, creating a online marketing vehicle.

Online Marketing

The number one mistake that most first time web site owners make is that they don’t know what to do with their site after it’s designed. It is very possible to have a beautiful site designed for you and no one ever sees it.

A website is merely another means of marketing your products or services. With hundreds, if not thousands, of websites sprouting out everyday, competition is fierce. Having a “web presence” for your business has virtually become an understatement.

A good designer will not only help you create a professional looking site, they will also ensure that your site gets a good ranking with the search engines so that your site can be easily found online. Make sure that your designer will optimize your site for the search engines and submit it to the major search engines. Your website need to rank reasonably well in search engines.

Moreover, small business should seriously look into harnessing the power of the social media and sound web marketing design to increase the exposure of your services and products to extend your reach.

Is a Website Just a website

In the online world, traffic and targeted prospects is the life blood for you website. A pretty website becomes a white elephant if no customer visits it.

Does the web designer practice what he preaches? How much traffic is his website receiving?

To get an estimation of the amount of traffic, go to, enter his URL to get the traffic details. You’ll see the Traffic Rank for his website. As a general rule of thumb, if the traffic ranking isn’t within the 1st Million globally (e.g. Yahoo ranks no. 1), then his online marketing effort certainly has much room for improvement, even for his own business website.

Offline Marketing

Small businesses exist in numbers far larger than big corporations.

It is ever more important for your business to stand out from your competition with a professional, consistent image–your corporate identity, namely from your web design, company logo, to the offline marketing collateral such as business card and flyer designs etc.

Having the same company to design both your online and offline marketing collateral have significant advantages of consistency and cost.

Word of Mouth and Testimonials

Word of mouth is a good indication of someone who knows his stuff.

If he comes strongly recommended by trusted friends or family members, chances are he’s created design solutions that work for their business quite well. Ask them whether it was a good experience or not.

Most designers will have testimonials from previous clients on their website. It’s a good idea to see what his customers are saying about his services. Follow the web links and try contacting some of them. You should have a feel after talking to one or two. This also ensures the testimonials are not fake ones that were simply “made up”.

Chemistry is Key

You are going to have to share aspects of your business, from visions to operations to preferences to competition, with this person.

So it’s important that you feel comfortable enough with him to be honest about your business details and goals, as well as ask as many questions about his advise as you need to. Does the designer seem friendly and are they willing to answer all of your questions? Does he respond promptly to your emails and/or phone calls?

A good designer will keep in touch with you every few days, at least. You don’t want to get down to the final days of creating the site only to find out you don’t like it!

Look out for his modus operandi during the first meeting. He should be asking you extensive, detailed questions about your requirements and goals, in order to analyze your needs.

Someone who is more interested in telling you the different design packages he can offer you is probably more concerned about making a quick buck.

Website Maintenance

A common issue with most small business is a lack of technical skills. What happens if you want to update the content after the project has been completed? Can you update it yourself without any HTML knowledge?

Content Management System

Would your website be built on a content management platform such as WordPress or Joomla? This will allow you to update, edit and add pages on your own without going back to the web designer. Thus saving time and cost.

Engage your Customers via Blogs

If you are marketing your business on the web and you don’t have a blog, you will always be beaten down by your competition.

A Blog platform allows you to do things no one else in your market can do with static websites. This means you don’t just have a web site, you have a search engine magnet and an interactive community builder that will drive targeted, willing-to-buy visitors to your site.

This is an important factor for any small business to consider.

Although there is no clear-cut rule as to what an “average” price for web design is. In most cases, you get what you pay for. You are paying for this his expertise, time and experience.

Be realistic about your budget. You may not have all the bells and whistles such as animation and special effects.

It is more important to create a successful website that has a good position in the search engine and one that you are very happy with the look and function of than to save a couple of bucks. If you get a good site, your site will be able to grow with your company and, hopefully, that’s for a very long time!

The savvy, experienced web designer can implement your ideas and enhance them, spotting possible pitfalls and making recommendations along the way–and he’ll help you to understand the procedure and give you the benefit of his experience and understanding of the Web, so that you come away not only with a website, but with an enhanced understanding of the Web and online business. In short, he’ll work with you and be effective.

How to Start a Fashion Blog – Tips and Tricks

Blogging is hard work, despite the fact that many believe it to be quite an easy job. Sure, all you have to do is type on your laptop and publish it on a blog, but few know the dedication and hard work that hide beneath the surface. With that said, creating a successful fashion blog is not an easy task, but it is not impossible either. If you plan to start one, but don’t know how to, here are some tips to take into consideration:

1. Free is not best

If you plan on starting a new fashion blog, the first thing you need to do is look for a platform and a blog host. However, choosing one blog host is difficult because of the sheer number of blog hosts that can be found on the internet. One option for you, if you are a beginner, is Blue Host, a web host company that may cost a little more than the average, but who provides you with everything you need to start a kick-ass fashion blog. Don’t worry if you are a beginner, because they have plenty of features that will help you find your way and create everything as you dreamt it.

2. Be yourself

It may sound like a total cliché, but when you consider all the millions of fashion blogs out there, being different and being yourself at the same time will differentiate you from the other ones and that is exactly that you need. The most popular fashion bloggers out there set trends or destroy them so being yourself and setting yourself apart from everyone else is the best advice anyone can give you. Release your creativity onto your blog and in no time, you will see your popularity grow.

3. Make your blog unique

The visual part of a blog is highly important, especially for those in the fashion field. People need to see vibrant colors, depending on your style. The skin, the writing font and everything else related to the visual experience of the reader should be your signature, the one that makes you stand out in the crowd. After the visual part comes the content and if your content is as good as your visuals, then your blog will most definitely become one of the most popular in the niche.

4. Study your competitors

The blogging world is huge, with millions of people all around the world working day and night to provide their readers with the best content and make them come back again and again. If you are new to the blogging world, look up the crème de la crème of the fashion blogging field and study them.

What makes them so popular? What is their secret? Do they talk more to their fans than others? Do they go to fashion shows all over the world and are the first ones to comment on the collections? What is it that makes them so beloved by their public?

Take all the answers you to these questions that you found by studying their blogs and then apply them to your blog. You will essentially copy what they are doing… but all in a good cause.

5. Use professional equipment

If you really want to make fashion blogging your next fulltime job, you need to offer your readers more than just visuals and great content. You also have to have professional equipment for taking photos, videos and others. Your readers will definitely appreciate a high quality photo of an outfit more than a regular one taken with a smartphone. Keep that in mind.

Creating a fashion blog is very easy. Creating a popular one that will draw thousands of clicks every day can be very difficult. However, all you need is patience, the will to succeed and lots and lots of work.

Affiliate Marketing: How to Get Started

If you are looking to make an income online, I’m guessing you have heard about affiliate marketing. The way this process works is, you choose products to promote on your website. The creator of the product provides you with a link. When a visitor clicks on the link, they will be taken to the vendor’s site where they can purchase the product. If they decide to make a purchase, you earn a commission. The customer pays exactly the same price regardless if they landed on the vendor’s site directly or via affiliate links from your website. Starting with affiliate marketing can be easy, but earning a full-time income from it may be a long-term effort. The sooner you get started, the earlier you will start making additional money for yourself.

Affiliate marketing can also be done part-time in addition to your main job. A couple of hours each day in the evening will get you started all right. You will need to have a website of your own, where you can publish your affiliate banners and links. If you do not want to spend money, you can set up free blogs either on or Blogger. If you learn the ropes and realize that you have the potential for creating a lucrative business for yourself, you can go ahead and buy your own domain names and hosting later.

In order to find what you would like to promote, you can join affiliate networks such as Commission Junction or Sharasale. There are a ton of them to choose from. Just join one to see what everything is all about, then you can search for others. When you join, you most likely will need to already have a website because they will ask you to see it. Make a free blog, put up a few posts and you will be done. After you get accepted, you will see a list of vendors and products.
