How to Redirect a WordPress Page to Other Sites Or Pages

There are some occasions that I want to redirect my WordPress page to other site due to several reasons. One of them is that I don’t want to redesign or have some duplicate content to the new page which I am going to create. Instead, I want my navigation bar leads directly to the place I want. It may be other site or may be some html page on the same site. I therefore searched on how I am going to do it. Luckily, I found the solution.

I went to the search engine and filled in “download template-redirect”. I got the results which lead me to the site that I got the php file that I will need for this purpose. Then, I had to download the zip file. I unzipped the file and found a folder in it. In the folder, there was a file that is named template-redirect. I saved the file in the place I wanted it to be.

The next step is that I uploaded the file onto my theme folder. If you don’t know where it is, you can find it by going to the root menu and then go to wp-content and then go to theme. Select the theme that you are using. Upload template redirect to the theme.

Now you will have to go to the your WordPress admin. Login to your account and open a new page. Type the new title and also type the URL of the site or page you want it to go to. On the right side, you will need to change one important last thing. You will have to find the place that you can change template. It is on the right side of your panel if you are using the new version of WordPress. Change the “default template” to “page redirect”. Now you can go to your site and check if everything is OK.
